Roberto Roy is the president and founder of Ingeniería R-M and affiliates, one of the largest construction groups in Panama. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of ALAMYS (Asociacion Latinoamericana de Metros y Subterraneos), since 2011; Board Member of the City of Knowledge; Advisory Board Member of the Georgia Tech Panama Logistics Innovation & Research Center; Board of Directors of Bancolat for 15 years; La Prensa newspaper for 7 years; and Board of Caja de Ahorros for 5 years. He has been a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization/World Presidents’ Organization for the last 25 years and is also a member of the Panamanian Chamber of Commerce Asociacion Panamena de Ejecutivos de Empresa. Roy was a member of the Board of Directors of the Panama Canal Authority from 1998 through 2007 and presided over the Blue Ribbon Engineering Committee, a panel which, together with the United States Corps of Engineers, evaluated the infrastructure of the Panama Canal and recommended improvements to the waterway (1996-1998). He has been recognized with several awards, such as the Condecoración Manuel Amador Guerrero (Gran Cruz), the highest civilian honor in Panama, in 2007; Distinguished Engineering Alumnus from Georgia Tech in 2005; SPIA, Engineer of the Year, in 2004, William Ross Honor Medal from the Panama Construction Chamber; two Panama Canal Awards given by the ACP Board of Directors in recognition of his performance and commitment as a former member of the Board of Directors (1998-2007), and Blue Ribbon Engineering Committee (1996-1999); and recipient of the Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur (Chevalier). Roy holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad Santa Maria la Antigua, a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's degree in Industrial Management, both from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
