He participated in a semester-long study abroad program in Rio de Janeiro, and was selected for short-term immersion programs in Australia, Morocco and Portugal. Julio German has sat on the executive boards of several student-led organizations, including the Wharton Latino Undergraduate Association and the Wharton Business Law Association. In addition, he currently serves as Wharton representative to Penn’s Undergraduate Assembly, and as Vice-Chair of the International Student Advisory Board. Beyond Penn, Julio German has gained significant exposure to the financial services and consulting industries. He has interned at Citi and Deloitte in Panama, Opus Gestao de Investimentos in Brazil, and Morgan Stanley’s Global Capital Markets in New York. His passion for his Latin American heritage has inspired Julio German to share his culture with those around him. He has brought renowned speakers to campus, most notably former President of Panama, Nicolas Ardito Barletta, and former CEO of the Panama Canal Authority, Alberto Aleman Zubieta. Moreover, he has represented his nation at prominent international forums, including UNEP’s 2009 TUNZA International Conference and Vanguardia Iberoamericana 2013 (organized by the OAS and the IADB as part of the XXIII Ibero-American Summit). Julio German hopes to apply his Wharton education by contributing to the growth of his region. After graduation, he plans to work for a financial services firm in New York City. However, his ultimate aspiration is to actively participate in both the public and private sectors in his home country.
